Craft Site Directory: Lampwork

www.craftsitedirectory.com/lampwork/ - Remember to !
Despite it's name, lampworking has nothing to do with making lamps. It is actually a glasswork technique that got it's name because lampworking was originally done in the flame of an oil lamp, with the artist blowing air into the flame through a pipe to melt and shape glass.

Lampworking, as known as flameworking or torchworking, is done by first melting rods of clear or colored glass in front of a flame, usually a torch, and then the glass is formed by the artist with tools, gravity, and hand movements. The lampwork technique is often used to make beads for beadwork.

In this category you can find lampworking information, supplies and equipment for lampwork and links to online shops with handmade lampwork items available for purchase.
