SECTION 4):*~*: Halloween Craft Projects and Costume Ideas
Great ideas for a spook-tacular Halloween.
Browse the ideas below and follow the links to find Halloween craft projects and costume ideas for the whole family. Halloween is a great time to get your kids involved with arts and crafts by having them help you make decorations.
Kids love making paper chains. These can be draped around the house as decorations. Cut black and orange contruction paper into strips, about one inch by five inches. Roll the first strip to make a ring and tape or glue it closed. Put the second strip through the ring made with the first strip and tape or glue is closed. Continue until the chain is long enough for where you want to place it.
While decorating can be fun, besides the candy, for most kids the best part about Halloween is getting dressed up. In countries where Halloween is celebrated, it's also a popular time for adults to plan or attend Halloween costume parties. If you have not yet purchased or made costumes for your kids or for yourself, here are some last-minute ideas and places to find many more ideas.
A Mime:
Wear a white button down shirt, black slacks, black shoes and white gloves. Purchase or make your own red suspenders and bow tie. You may also want to remove the white buttons from the white shirt and replace them with red buttons. Trace an oval shape around your face with black eyeliner then fill in the entire area with white face paint. Wear bright red lipstick and black eyeliner around your eyes and on your eyebrows. If available, add a black top hat(you could even try making one from card board and painting it black).
A Painter:
Wear an old white shirt and white pants(it's okay if they are stained). Now splash non-toxic paint all over the clothes, covering up any stains. Carry a paintbrush in your shirt pocket or back pocket of your pants.
Don't forget about Fido! If you have even basic sewing skills there is a free pattern for a vest style dog coat at http://www.sewing.circleofcrafters.com. If you look through the photo gallery on that site, you will see how some visitors have used the pattern to make costumes for their dogs. Don't miss page 7 of the gallery, there is a very cute Yorkshire terrier dressed up as a cheerleader!
