You don't have to be from the US to have fun turning trash into crafts in celebration of America Recycles Day. Here are links to craft project ideas that utilize items that normally end up in the waste basket:
Paper mache is a great way to make use of old newspapers. Paper mache is usually made from either a mixture of flour and water or a mixture of Elmer's glue(or other white glue) and water. Newspaper or paper grocery bags are then cut into strips and dipped into the mixture to create sculptures using items like balloons, paper towel rolls, etc. After drying, creations can be painted and decorated.
