SECTION 2):*~*: Organizing Your Craft Supplies or Craft Room
It's that time of year... time for some spring cleaning!

If you are like most crafters, you probably have mountains of supplies that you've collected over the years. When starting a new project, it's often easier to buy new supplies than it is to find the ones you already have!

My craft/sewing room was a disaster until about 6 months ago when I was forced to clean it up and turn the room into a guest room for a couple of months. Luckily, I live with a handy man. This made the daunting task much easier. Rows of shelves across one entire wall solved the dilemna.

He built the shelves out of inexpensive plywood and made them in such a way that they sat on the floor, doubling as a table top. He added dividers so the finished product resembled the cubby holes you'd find in a Kindergarten class room, except I needed larger openings. I then simply draped some of my extra fabric(which includes entire bolts that I've bought on sale) over the top of the shelves, like a table cloth, so that it hung down to the floor, covering the supplies within.

The cubby holes were perfect! Supplies were placed in old shoe boxes, coffee tins, and other recycled materials. As I placed my supplies in the cubby holes, I organized them by type. Supplies that used to take up an entire room now fit neatly along one wall of the room. We had plenty of room left to add a bed and dresser for our guest and I could finally take down the sign that previously hung in the room, "Creative People Are Never Tidy".

In order to be able to continue to work on my craft projects without my craft room, I purchased a nice wooden chest to replace the coffee table in our living room. In it, I placed the supplies for my current projects. This turned out to be such a convenience that I continue to do this even after our guest has departed. Now, when I get ready to work on a project, I can just plop myself down on the couch, in front of the TV, and open the lid!
