The email going around about the Hirshhorn Modern Art Gallery Contest is actually the amazing work of Danish artist Peter Callesen.
On an arts and crafts related blog site, we recently saw an article about a contest by the Hirshhorn Modern Art Gallery which challenged artists to create something unique using only one sheet of paper. The works were simply amazing but after some research to find more information about the contest, it turns out that is was actually a hoax that has been circulating via an email chain letter for at least 5 months. The works of art are 100% real but they are actually the works of a single artist, Peter Callesen.
He uses plain white paper to create what he refers to as papercuts. He cuts shapes from the white paper and uses what he cut away to form an object that usually stays connected to the original piece of paper. His work is a must-see!
